Replace the factory follower with a +4 follower and together with the +3 basepad, you will get a total of 16 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. That's a total of 17 rounds in the gun!

Grip tape allows for better traction when seating magazines. These grip tapes attach to the bottom of the Shockbottle +1 basepads with a peel and stick 3M adhesive and do not interfere with normal operation of the gun and magazines.

Nick....do you have any instructions for the +4 follower replacement?
ReplyDeleteI have a video in the making but it is really easy. All you need to do is removed the basepad and spring. Then push out the little black pin in the factory follower that is used as a load assist tab. Then the follower should fall right out of the bottom.
ReplyDeleteCool....and don't put the little black pin back in the orange +4 follower... I was able to get 15 rounds loaded with no problems at all. I appreciate your quick reply - I will be ordering a few more base pads(just wish the mags weren't so expensive)and the handy thumb-saver loader. Great products!

DeleteIt is something that is part of the "International Traffic in Arms Regulations" (ITAR). The language is kinda fuzzy but it basically makes shipping gun parts out of the US a crime. Most of the people that I know that work in the firearm industry do not ship outside of the US for fear of violating some kind of rule overlooked.

DeleteIt doesn't stop Brownells shipping outside of USA.. They happily supply parts for my guns. Perhaps you could get them to stock your items Nic ? (I think though the regs apply to parts like barrels and frames for which export certs are required)

ReplyDeleteI am running the factory springs in my mags with the +3 and +4 with no problems. But depending on the condition of your current spring you might need to get a new one. Kinda hard to say until you try it. A spring is only $3 additional dollars if you decide to buy the follower/basepad and spring combo. Then do not use it unless i appears you have an issue.

ReplyDeleteShipping to CA is fine. However there may be some legalities about "installing" the parts. That is the responsibility of the person installing them. So make sure you are not breaking any laws by installing them.

Unfortunately, I cannot seem to load any more than 14 rounds using both the +4 follower and this 1 + 3 Basepad. Do I need to cut down the OEM spring to allow more room and if so, how much do I cut off? Do you have an instructional video for this setup?

I bought the guide rod combo (spring and recoil buffer) the small metal washer that comes with the 1911-22 does not fit on the new guide rod. Do I Discard it? Also do I still use the white buffer that came with the firearm? Better yet do you have a video on installing the rod?
